Causes and Solutions of the Most Common System Problems


 

 
Valve does not operate properly
bullet wrong valve selected, flow too low - replace with correct size valve for flow.
bullet valve diaphragm is clogged - clean or replace diaphragm
bullet solenoid faulty or wires severed - check wiring, repair or replace solenoid.

Emission device has uneven or no flow

bullet upstream of emission device - check for breaks or repair
bullet filter clogged or inadequate - check, clean or replace filter
bullet emission device clogged or faulty - replace emission device
bullet pressure too high or too low - check pressure regulation
bullet too many emission devices on one line or line sized improperly for flow - check and correct
Tubing comes apart at fittings
bullet fitting improperly installed or wrong fitting - check and replace
bullet pressure too high - check pressure regulation

Emission devices come loose from tubing

bullet

emission device installed improperly - check and replace

bullet

pressure too high - check pressure regulation

bullet

faulty or worn hole punch - check punch tip and replace bad section of tubing

Plants appear stressed

bullet

emission device at plant is clogged -  clean or replace emission device

bullet

filter is clogged and preventing flow - clean and/or replace filter

bullet

brake in line upstream of emitter  - check for breaks and repair

bullet

run time inadequate for plant and/or time of year - recalculate water requirement        and re-schedule

bullet

controller faulty or turned off - check controller and reset, repair or replace
