Tape/Drip System Components - Fertigation/Chemigation

Chemical injection capabilities are important in the operation of the whole system. Chemicals must be injected periodically to keep the system operating. Acid or chlorine injection may be required on a continuous or intermittent basis.

Acid - lowers the pH (should be reduced to 2-3) and prevents chemical precipitations and plugging the tape/tubing. Type of acid which can be used: hydrochloric- sulphuric- or phosphoric acid.

Chlorine - is a biocide to prevent algae and bacterial growth in the system. Chlorine types to be used are liquid chlorine sodium hypochlorite, solid chlorine calcium hypochlorite and gaseous chlorine.

Water soluble nutrients can also be injected and will be applied direct to the crop root zone.
